There has always been an “e” in Niner

At Niner, our mission is to improve gravel driving, period.

We started making 29ers from “day one”, in 2005, because they really improved our ride, allowing riders to pedal faster, smoother, farther, stronger and feel more confident.

Today, in 2020, our mission has not changed. With the e9 series, we increased the fun factor by offering new Pedal Damn it shapes while maintaining Niner’s signature ride quality and style.

9 things you should know:

– 1.Two brand new electric mountain bikes: the RIP e9, with 150mm of travel, and the WFO e9, with 180mm of travel.

RIP e9

The best way to improve a gravel ride is to stay out longer, go a little further, climb to the top earlier, or just make it happen. The new 150mm travel RIP e9 29er makes sure all of these requirements are met.

Welded 6061 aluminum frame and one-piece motor mount

We start with a hand-welded 6061 aluminum frame and one-piece engine mount that unifies the upper and lower pivot locations with the shock mount for exceptional stiffness. Forged links and dropouts at the ends of the frame provide added strength and the pivots are mounted on Enduro Max Black Oxide bearings to ensure smooth performance and long life.

Bosch motor

A Bosch Performance Line CX motor offers smooth pedaling assistance without surprises. Torque-sensitive, lag-free power delivery is predictable in all conditions.

Power Tube 625 Battery

The 625 Wh external down tube battery offers easy access and a robust 50 mi / 80 km (average) range. Torque-sensitive, lag-free power delivery is courtesy of Bosch and the Gen 4 Performance CX drivetrain. Powered by a 625 Wh battery, this system offers miles of reliable and predictable pedaling assistance in the most challenging conditions.

But above all, Niner’s ride quality is paramount. Consequently, the suspension behavior of RIP e9 was carefully evaluated during development. The addition of pedal assist reduced the importance of Niner’s signature CVA system and the highly efficient and elaborately tuned pedaling platform it offers.

150mm suspension travel

With the freedom to consider a range of proven and well-matched suspension designs, our engineers turned to (and embraced) a Horst-link system. In pursuit of maximum performance, we adjusted the shock length, travel, orientation and location of the shock to obtain Niner’s characteristic kinematics.

Lockable air damper

The net result is a remarkably flexible and balanced suspension curve that adapts to both uphill and downhill, and is ready to tackle any trail. But above all, Niner’s ride quality is paramount. Consequently, the performance of the RIP e9 suspension was carefully evaluated during development. The addition of pedal assist reduced the importance of Niner’s signature CVA system and the highly efficient and elaborately tuned pedaling platform it offers. The suspension curve is extraordinarily flexible and balanced and adapts so much to the climb

as on the descent.
